Lou G. Hare (1866-1921) was an American county surveyor in California. He was born in San Jose, but the family relocated to San Francisco following his father's death in 1875.
Hare worked as a clerk for the Southern Pacific Railroad and began surveying for the Pacific Improvement Company, working on railroads across the United States.
After winning the Republican Party election in 1893, Hare served as Monterey County's Surveyor for two decades. He eventually settled in Salinas, where he explored his interest in photography.
